New Connections, Reconnections and Alterations to Existing Connections

If you're building, changing the electrical load on an existing site, wanting to relocate a power connection, or require any other changes to your connection, start by completing our online application form.

Network Connection Application (NCA)

An NCA must be completed to apply for any of the following connections, reconnections or alterations listed.

New connection

Metered temporary builder's supply

Capacity upgrade/downgrade

Metered temporary to permanent connection

Decommission (complete permanent removal

Point of supply relocation

Phase change

De-amalgamation

Overhead to underground conversion

Meter relocation

Reconnection (when supply has been disconnected for six months or more)

The Application Process

Submit

Submit your NCA using the online form. We will assess your NCA within five working days of receipt.

If any issues are identified in your NCA, it will not be approved, and you or your electrical contractor/electrician will be asked to resolve them.

Approval could be delayed due to:
- Lack of information submitted
- Insufficient system capacity available at the point of connection
- Requirement of prior easements or other consents
- Voltage is outside regulation tolerances
- Non-payment of fees, levies, and/or capital contributions
- Any other issues identified

Approval

Once approved, we will forward the NCA to your nominated energy retailer, electrical contractor and Accredited Installing Contractor (AIC).

For New Connections, Metered Temporary Builder's Supply, and Reconnections, you will need to contact your chosen energy retailer directly to confirm your personal details and to establish a supply agreement.

Fees

Fees are applied to NCAs for all New Connections (including Metered Temporary Builder's Supply), upgrades based on the additional capacity, reconnections of non-domestic installations de-energised greater than 6 months, and for domestic installation de-energised greater than 18 months.

A Network Development Levy or Capital Contribution may also apply depending on the installation distance from the nearest zone substation.

Ready

When the connection is ready for livening or alteration, the NCA will be released to your chosen AIC in preparation for you to book a date and time for the work to be completed.

You or your electrical contractor/electrician need to negotiate your own terms with your chosen AIC.
